ABOUT THE BOOK:
At the tail end of the Jazz Age, Chicago experienced everything from Prohibition and flappers to the grip of Al Capone and the Crash of the stock market in 1929. Yet amidst such extremes, a quiet but insidious threat masqueraded as a beacon of hope; the discovery of radium. Young women, drawn by the lustrous allure of the magical element, willingly sought out employment in factories, each working to perfect the art of luminous watch-face painting, only to have their light extinguished. Now imagine not only reading about their plight, but actually traveling to 1927 America. It's just another stop on the time-travel continuum for Colette Browning.
