Author Discussion & Signing with Jack Fredrickson

   Author: Jack Fredrickson

Fredrickson admits little other than after something of successful careers in productivity consulting and owning and managing an interior design/commercial furnishings firm, he abandoned productive employment to write in dark places. Oddly, given his limitations, he's found something besides mold--a modest following. More strangely, he's earned starred reviews and mentions and features in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the Chicago Sun-Times. Oddest of all, his works have received Shamus Award Nominations for Best First Novel, Best Novel, and Best Short Story, proving that even seasoned crime story analysts can be fooled, and more than once. He lives with his wife west of Chicago.

Title : Hidden Graves: A P.I. Mystery Set in Chicago (The 6th Dek Elstrom Novel)

Someone is trying to frame Chicago private investigator Dek Elstrom for murder in the latest intriguing mystery.
It's election season in corrupt Cook County, Illinois - where the dead vote on who lives and who dies.  A skeleton's hand spills out of an abandoned grain silo, aiming an axe at a candidate. A heavily-disguised woman hires PI Dek Elstrom to head west to find men with no pasts - and one with no present. While he's away, someone dead comes calling to frame him for murder.  A sheriff's deputy wants Dek arrested. Someone else wants him dead. No one knows what the woman who hasn't spoken in decades wants.
And Dek Elstrom? He wants to stay alive.

Kirkus Review  for Hidden Graves: "The criminals are clever and the detective, after his initial benightedness, even more clever, making Fredrickson’s sixth case one of his best." (December 1, 2016)

Publishers Weekly for Hidden Graves: "Del[k] Elstrom uncovers ancient crimes and sordid secrets in Fredrickson’s well-paced sixth mystery to feature the witty, junk food–dependent PI." (December 6, 2016)

Booklist for Hidden Graves: The writing here is splendid, echoing genre veteran Loren D. Estleman, and Dek Elstrom is the kind of guy we genuinely like spending time with. This is the sixth in the Elstrom series, and let’s hope there will be many more to come. (Januray, 2017)
