SUMMARY:Author Discussion and Signing with Local Author Chuck Calderon
DESCRIPTION:

An Act of Love for All is about a group of highly different individuals &amp\; how they are drawn together to be determining factors in the longest &amp\; greatest war in history. As mankind struggles with their daily lives\, they remain unaware of the war being fought since before time itself on earth -- the war between heaven &amp\; hell. The devil &amp\; his minions accumulate the souls of mankind to openly defy God as St. Michael &amp\; Heaven's Angels battle the darkness so man can choose his own fate....

The author Chuck Calderon was born in Cali Colombia. He migrated to Chicago at the age of four to live with his mother and sister. His formal education took place in Chicago from grammar school to high school and finally college. He has worked as a cab driver\, banker\, salesman and an entrepreneur. He began writing poetry and prose while in high school and admits he was influenced by the writngs of Ernest Hemingway\, his growing up in Chicago and his Catholic heritage.

Title\: The Mermaids Singing

Author\: Val Mc Dermid

This was the summer he discovered what he
wanted--at a gruesome museum of criminology far off the beaten track of
more timid tourists. Visions of torture inspired his fantasies like a
muse. It would prove so terribly fulfilling.

The bodies of four men have been discovered in the town of Bradfield.
Enlisted to investigate is criminal psychologist Tony Hill. Even for a
seasoned professional\, the series of mutilation sex murders is unlike
anything he's encountered before. But profiling the psychopath is not
beyond him. Hill's own past has made him the perfect man to comprehend
the killer's motives. It's also made him the perfect victim.

A game has begun for the hunter and the hunted. But as Hill confronts
his own hidden demons\, he must also come face-to-face with an evil so
profound he may not have the courage--or the power--to stop it...

Title\: The Chocolate Wars\: The 150 Year Rivalry Between the World's Greatest Chocolate Makers.

Author\: Deborah Cadbury

“The inside story of the 150-year rivalry among Cadbury\, Hershey\,
Nestlé\, and Mars is a fascinating and luscious tale. Deborah Cadbury\,
great-great-great- granddaughter of 19th-century chocolate maker John
Cadbury\, tells it eloquently in Chocolate Wars\, drawing the reader into
her epic of family and industry with clear love for her subject.”—Philadelphia Inquirer

“This is a delicious book\, seductive as a tray of bonbons\, a Fancy Box in every way.”—Washington Post

“[Chocolate Wars] pits idealism against capitalism\,
religious piety against the forces of greed and cutthroat competition.
Though\, like great fiction\, it defies belief\, it’s the true story of our
favorite guilty pleasure. Cadbury’s book\, like her namesake’s famous
sampler\, is full of surprises and delights.” —Christian Science Monitor

“The reader of Chocolate Wars feels they are getting an insider’s view.”—Financial Times

Chicago’s craft beer scene may be new\, but it enthusiastically taps the rich history of its home city. Order yourself a pint of Piece’s Golden Arm Ale and meet its inspiration—Nelson Algren\, poet of the Chicago slums and author of The Man with the Golden Arm. Or sample the fine flavors of Crown Brewing\, made in the former boiler room of a jail that was the site of a John Dillinger prison break. Slip some rough-and-tumble stories into your drink at Mickey Finn’s or raise a glass of Honkers to Goose Island for bringing brewing back to the city. Through the pages of this amiable bar stool reader\, experience some of Chicago’s most fascinating stories\, from the Great Fire to Wrigley Field.
